Major grounds of the Ice Hockey World Championship

May 9-25 2014 Minsk will celebrate the 78th Ice Hockey World Championship. The championship will be held at two venues - "Minsk Arena" and "Chizhovka Arena". Both of them are located in a 15-minute drive from the center of the city, so it will be convenient for everyone. How to get to Chizhovka Arena: №917 and 926 buses from the “Avtozavodskaja” subway station. You need to take bus till Tashkentskaja bus stop.

It’s a new building in Belarusian capital. Sweden, Czech Republik, Canada, Slovakia, Norway, Denmark, France and Italy (Group A) will play here. Chizhovka Arena is called a second place for the World Championship.
The Chizhovka Arena is a multifunctional sports and entertainment complex with a multi-level parking. Ice Arena is the first step of a huge project, that will contain a hotel complex and entertainment centers. The design of the arena is unique and functional: the entrance zone is located in the center of the building, it accommodates a vestibule group, including additional lobbies and service rooms.
An important advantage is a separate access to the game arena from the two floors . It means that people can pass to the rostrums through the foyer of the first and fourth floors. Also, you can pass to the VIP-lounge with the help of 2 elevators. The constructors took into account people with disabilities and designed a special elevators for them. Foyer area actually is a double-height space, which is a recreational zone .

How to get to Minsk Arena: You can take the bus №1 or 91 from the Sport Palace. You can also use express buses № 1051, 1055, 1056, 1070, 1083, 1117, 1156, 1233, 1416.
You can take a suburban electric train, by the way. Your stop will be called Masjukowschina.

The Minsk Arena is one of the most capacious ice rinks in Europe. The Minsk Arena is a unique sports complex. It is second to none in the country by the multifunctionality, complexity of technical solutions, systems and equipment. The building has a roof made by modern technology, which was implemented in Belarus for the first time. Virtually every square centimeter of the roof is filled with sensors, which provides for 24/7 monitoring of cables’ tension. This information comes to Minsk Arena employees and specialists in France.
Part of the lower tier of the stands with metal steps and seats can be moved under concrete steps with one click. This technical solution helps to free space for a dance floor. Commentator cabins and 42 VIP boxes for 700 seats below are located on the upper tier. Two governmental and a presidential box are located on the grandstand A.
The building is equipped with 54 cloakrooms so that 15,000 spectators can leave the complex within 40 minutes after an event.
The center of the building is the main part of the arena. A standard international ice hockey sheet of 60 x 30 metres is situated here. The central arena is connected with a speed skating arena by an underground passage. By the way, Minsk Arena can host competitions in 28 different kinds of sport.
In the center of the roof is placed huge octahedral media cube with 8 plasma screens. This construction is the heaviest in Europe: it has 18 tons. It took 2 weeks to rise it to the roof.
Arena is 35 meters height. 54 cloakrooms provide a possibility for 15 000 spectaculars to leave the building as soon as possible.
Minsk Arena has the experience to host international guests. Junior Eurovision Song Contest in November 2010, Junior Championship in figure skating in spring of 2012, the Boxing Championship in 2013 were held here. So, Minsk Arena is ready to host international guests.
Belarus is ready to show the highest level of preparation to the Championship.
